Bailey Marie

If anyone knows my daughter BAILEY she a little spunky energetic, dramatic girl! She is very active and thinks she is the funniest person EVER!!

On Tuesday when she got home from school I noticed some bruises on her legs and arms that looked a little weird to me ,so the OCD person I am I called her doctor and got a appointment before they closed that night. At first the doctor seemed to think it was bruises from jumping on the TRAMP but he still thought we should go to the hospital to get some
blood work done.
I didn't think it was a big deal until her doctor called me back around 7:00 that night. He told me that her platelett count was
6,000 and it should be 500,000!
He said she is bruising because her blood is not clotting how it should be and he thinks I should go up up primary childrens and talk to a hematologist.
He also said that he thinks she has something called ITP it is a really long name and I am not sure how you spell it but it means her body is killing off her plateletts. They don't know how it is caused but there are a few treatments that will temporarily bring her count up so she won't bleed so easily.
Today I went to Primary Childrens to a specialist and he was great and explained it all, he gave me a persciption for steroids that she needs to take for 2 weeks and she needs to get her blood drawn every week so we can
see her levels. He seems to think that it will correct itself on it's own after the steroids, so the side effects of the steroids are symptoms like PMS, well that is all I need ,a couple of years too early!
She thinks the worst part is that she will have to sit
out for PE and will have to take it really easy and be CAREFUL at recess.

I feel so bad because she has these bruises all over her and most of them are from
something as simple as bumping into a table.
I will keep everyone posted on how the steroids helped!

Poor Bailey! I hope that the steroids help and the problems solve on their own.
